Frequently Asked Questions

What is a session?

A session is a period of activity from a single user on your app or website. It can include many pageviews or events. For web, a session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity from the user. For iOS, a session ends after your app has entered the background.

What happens if I exceed the limit for my plan?

Don’t worry – we will not drop or throttle your data! Once you exceed your plan’s monthly limit, you’ll receive an email asking you to upgrade to the appropriate tier. You’ll need to do this before you can view your data again.

What is a Project?

A Project is the workspace in which you collect and analyze the data from your app or website. If your company has multiple products, we recommend opening a separate Project workspace for each of them.

What’s the difference between Source Integrations and Destination Integrations?

Source Integrations send data into Heap for analysis. For instance, we can automatically collect data from your email automation solution so you can analyze what users do after opening an email.

Destination Integrations send Heap data to other tools for activation. For instance, you might identify a segment of users who haven’t taken a key action, and send them an email or a user guide.
